Type of Rice Thai Jasmine Rice (Thai Hom Mali Rice)
Nowadays, Thai Jasmine Rice gains worldwide reputation in soft cooking texture and fragrant aroma as Thailand?s specialty.

Thai Jasmine Rice is also known as

?Thai Hom Mali Rice?, ?Thai Fragrant Rice?, or ?Thai Scented Rice?. Jasmine Rice can only be grown during main season, from September to December.

Although Jasmine Rice can be grown in any part of the world, only Jasmine Rice grown in Thailand produces the best quality rice which has long-slender, translucent, silky, smooth grain, and low content of chalky kernel.

After cooked, it will be soft, white and releases wonderful fragrant aroma. The taste of Jasmine Rice enhances the traditional spices of oriental cookery.

Thai Glutinous Rice

Thai Glutinous Rice is also known as ?Sweet Rice? or ?Sticky Rice?. Glutinous Rice can be easily distinguished from other varieties by its short, plump grain with milky color. The best well-known and best quality variety is called "Sanpathong Sticky Rice" which is grown mainly in the northern regions of Thailand.

Glutinous rice is widely consumed in the areas where it is grown, as well as by certain areas in Laos and Cambodia. It can also be an ingredient in sweet dishes, other complimentary dishes, as well as brewing industry.

Thai White Rice
Thai Long Grain White Rice (TWR) belongs to the indica (long-grain) category. It is also known as polished rice or fully milled rice.

In Thailand, white rice is cultivated throughout the country. However, the major production area of white rice is in the central of Thailand resulted from the well-established irrigation system. White rice is the main staple grain consumed by the majority of the world?s population which always enables Thai White Rice in demand.

Cargo Rice Cargo Rice is also known as ?Brown Rice?.

Milling is the primary difference between brown and white rice. Milling, often called "whitening", removes the outer bran layer of the rice grain where brown rice becomes white rice. Milling strips off the bran layer, leaving a core comprised of mostly carbohydrates. In this bran layer resides nutrients of vital importance in the diet, making white rice a poor competitor in the nutrition comparing to Brown Rice. Because the bran is not milled away, brown rice contains Fiber, most of the B vitamins, and important minerals much higher than in white rice.

Black Glutinous Rice

Black Glutinous Rice is the glutinous rice with black-colored bran layer that sometimes lighten to a deep purple when cooked. Black Glutinous Rice is popular in Asian cuisine used for sweet dishes. It is mostly used in desserts with added coconut milk and sugar. In addition, it can also be used to make puddings.

Red cargo Rice

This is natural Thai long-grain rice similar to regular cargo rice. The only difference is the color of bran layer of the kernel. For the red cargo rice, the color of the bran layer is red.
